Schneider Aventinus

HR Growler Schneider Aventinus Beer Review

Schneider Aventinus

Weizenbock 8.2%

Appearance: Aventinus is a local favorite around here, and we have The Bier Garden to thank for that! This classic Schneider beer pours a gorgeous ruby brown with a voluminous fluffy tan head (which is attributed to the extra proteins in the wheat malt). A proper pour usually involves swirling the bottle and adding the yeast, which will create a bit of haziness.

Aroma: Banana and cloves dominate the aroma. It also has hints of molasses and toffee from the malts.

Taste: This beer has all of the desired qualities of a German-style wheat beer, but wait, there’s more! In addition to the tastes typical of a Hefeweizen, Schneider has added hints of caramel, orange and molasses -- all for the price of one beer. This beer is certain to please wheat and dark beer drinkers alike.

Mouthfeel: Wheat beers are well-known for a having a full body, and this beer lives up to that with its smooth and creamy mouthfeel. It is like banana pudding on the palate.

Drinkability: This is a perfect beer for transitioning from the summer Hefeweizens as the nights grow cooler. The alcohol warms you up while pairing beautifully with beef stew or a freshly baked loaf of banana bread.
