Blue Mountain Brewery Dark Hollow

Blue Mountain Brewery Dark Hollow HRGrowler Review

Dark Hollow

Blue Mountain Brewery
Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout
ABV: 10 percent
IBU: 70

Appearance: Poured from the tap at Tortilla West, this beer pours a silky opaque black color with a brown head.

Aroma: The aroma on this beer is not as big as you would imagine. There are hints of bourbon and chocolate, but nothing over the top.

Taste: The aroma is definitely deceiving on this beer. Flavors of vanilla, coconut, and bourbon are quickly detected and keep its taster going back for more.

Mouthfeel: For a barrel-aged stout I would have expected this beer to have more of a mouthfeel. It is a bit thin and has a boozy finish.

Drinkability: The thin mouthfeel on this beer makes it incredibly easy to drink, which can be very dangerous with its high ABV.

Pairing: An aged gouda or cheesecake.
